Form factor ratio from unpolarized elastic electron proton scattering
A reanalysis of unpolarized electron-proton elastic scattering data is done in terms of the electric to magnetic form factor squared ratio. This observable is in principle more robust against experimental correlations and global normalizations. The present analysis shows indeed that it is a useful quantity that contains reliable and coherent information. The comparison with the ratio extracted ...
متن کاملBounds in proton-proton elastic scattering at low momentum transfer
We present a bound on the imaginary part of the single helicity-flip amplitude for spin 1/2-spin 1/2 scattering at small momentum transfer. The variational method of Lagrange multipliers is employed to optimize the single-flip amplitude using the values of σtot, σel and diffraction slope as equality constraints in addition to the inequality constraints resulting from unitarity. Such bounds prov...
متن کاملParity violation in elastic electron-proton scattering and the Proton's strange magnetic form factor
We report a new measurement of the parity-violating asymmetry in elastic electron scattering from the proton at backward scattering angles. This asymmetry is sensitive to the strange magnetic form factor of the proton as well as electroweak axial radiative corrections. The new measurement of A = -4.92+/-0.61+/-0.73 ppm provides a significant constraint on these quantities. The implications for ...
متن کاملElastic Form Factors of the Proton, Neutron and Deuteron
In this paper an overview of past and future measurements of the elastic nucleon and deuteron electromagnetic form factors and a comparison with a selection of theoretical descriptions is provided.
متن کاملPrecision Rosenbluth measurement of the proton elastic form factors.
We report the results of a new Rosenbluth measurement of the proton electromagnetic form factors at Q2 values of 2.64, 3.20, and 4.10 GeV2. Cross sections were determined by detecting the recoiling proton, in contrast to previous measurements which detected the scattered electron. Cross sections were determined to 3%, with relative uncertainties below 1%. The ratio mu(p)G(E)/G(M) was determined...
